How to Be Happy

  1. Remember. Try to remember positive things rather than negative. Its not a bad thing to be sad. It's just how you act with that emotion (i.e take it out on your friends, punch a wall, etc.). If you focus on things that make you happy most of the time your mood becomes uplifted. But if you dwell on a negative your mood remains an unhappy one.
  2. Realize. No one is happy 100% of the time. It is unrealistic to believe that people stay upbeat all the time. If someone is always happy then they are unhealthy. Hiding emotions is a practice that will harm you in more ways then one. By realizing this, you will know when and how to react to different scenarios.
  3. Smile. It has been proven in many studies that people who smile continuously become happy by doing so.
  4. Forgive. A lot of times when people are upset it because someone has done something that has dampened your mood.Holding on to negative emotions will only cause you act in a immature and unhealthy way.
  5. Surroundings. Make friends that share your values and who are just as optimistic as you. If you do this you will notice that you are happier and get along more with the people you hang out with.
  6. Have fun:). Do the things you love like watching TV, playing basketball, or shopping when you're down. Its guaranteed to make you smile:)

When You Would Notice Me

I sit in the front of the class with my glasses perched on my nose, my pencil gripped tightly in my hand, my face alert. Everyone else sits there talking and laughing.  If you where standing at the door of that class room you wouldn't notice me. You wouldn't notice my awkward tendency. You wouldn't notice my vibrant personality and feel how much I love the arts. You wouldn't notice the way I easily listen to others opinions and then accept theirs in the same breath. You would only notice me when I open my mouth and speak my bold words not caring if people agree. You would only notice when I quote movies from the early 50ths and sing them as if I were in them myself. You would only notice when I speak of Drake and John Mayer in the same sentence. You would only notice me when you look behind the glasses and see Jazzlyn Elaine Preston and you accept it. That's when you would notice me.
